The native range of this terrestrial, succulent orchid is Eritrea to S. Africa, Socotra, Arabian Peninsula. Very stiff, succulent leaves emerge from fat, water storing bulbs. Flower spike can get almost 6 feet tall with multicolored flowers. Extremely interesting and uncommon plant! 6” size, 3 fat bulbs in each clump. Shipped bare root
DO NOT use orchid mix with this plant!!! It is a terrestrial orchid, it grows in the dirt. Use a chunky, well draining mix. Perlite is the preferable additive to fluff up your soil, NOT SAND and not pebbles or gravel. I use tall, narrow pots for these, as the roots like to grow down deep but not outward too much. The roots are really fat and succulent. This plant hates shallow pots.
