I know the purists out there might think they prefer an ungrafted plant...I disagree. Most climates are not ideal for growing this species. It has complicated watering needs during both the active growing season, and during dormancy. It can be frustrating to sort it out, especially if you don't live in a dry, hot climate with cool nights. If you live up north and have to bring this plant indoors in the winter, it can become resentful. Grafting on lamerei stock takes the mystery and difficulty out of the equation. This plant can be restaged to hide the graft, as you can see the brevicaule part is beginning to consume the top portion of the graft. This is superbly slow grown! Tons of branches, shown in a 7" clay pot for scale. What a gorgeous plant! Shipped bare root.
