Euphorbia plagiantha is native to southern Madagascar. It is a semi-succulent tree growing in dry, xeric scrub. It is a remarkable species that has employed several natural strategies for coping with drought. The exfoliating bark on the trunk allows for flexible swelling during periods of rainfall- to maximize water collection. The leafless branches are cylindrical and very succulent with a pointed apex that aids in the collection of condensation.
I promise you've never seen a euphorbia like this before. The trunk is almost gilded in appearance, and the baby blue branches are a striking contrast. It's as if a commiphora or bursera was melded into a euphorbia stenoclada or euphorbia arbuscula. I can't overstate how excited we are about this species!!!!! These are seed grown in 3" pots. An absolute treasure.

The seedling is quite small, but it arrived in good condition and is doing well.
Make sure you look at the last two pictures so you will know what to expect. Use the size of the pot for scale.
In summary, a rare and beautiful seedling in excellent condition.
