Agave potatorum Kissho Kan is also known as Agave sp. Kichiokan, or Agave potatorum 'Variegata.' This Japanese selection of what we think is an old Mexican hybrid has been circulated by collectors under several misspellings. In Japanese, the word 'Kissho Kan' means "happy (lucky) crown."
Agave potatorum is also known as the Butterfly or Artichoke Agave. Fleshy succulent rosette with stiff, blueish green leaves and lobed margins, tipped with a curly sharp hook. They can reach 2-3 feet in diameter when full grown. From Oaxaca, Mexico. This is a small to medium growing agave species. Rosettes get nice and tight in that artichoke shape as long as they have adequate, bright light.
