Seaside Goldenrod
Solidago sempervirens
Asteraceae (Compositae)
A coastal native wildflower that tolerates high salinity in the soil and wind! Blooms in dense, showy masses of yellow topped bushes. Goldenrods are often blamed for allergies, which is a myth! Goldenrods are insect-pollinated, so the pollen is not released into the air. Wind pollinated plants often trigger allergies. Spreads by rhizomes to make dense colonies; plant it where it can make a big show in the garden, or allow it a large space in the landscape. It needs lots of sun to bloom prolifically, but it will tolerate some shade. SALT tolerant!! Widely distributed all over Florida, does well everywhere! 4” pots, shipped bare root but wrapped carefully if shipping is selected.
Soil: Moist, well-drained sandy soils
Exposure: Full sun to minimal shade
