Boswellia sacra | Socotra Frankincense Tree | Bonsai Rare Tree LARGE 1 Gallon

Awesome Frankincense tree from the island of Socotra, Yemen, Oman and Somalia. In habitat, it grows in rock fissures and rocky escarpments with full sun and little water. In cultivation, this plant responds well to plenty of water and fertilizer during the growing season, but is reduced in the winter when the plant becomes somewhat dormant. Fabulous scent to the leaves when crushed.

Leaves are green bark is brown and peeling . Makes a nice, natural bonsai. Relatively fast growing when treated well. Rooted cuttings in 1 gallon pots. LARGE thick cuts, bigger size with branches and peeling bark already.

Cuttings will grow a nice shape and thick base. Shipped bare root, wrapped carefully. PLEASE water it generously! It will be shipped with most of the soil around the roots. Please try not to disturb them as much as possible. Do not put this plant in the sun right away- shade and peace for at least a week to recover. 

Dormancy:

This plant is winter deciduous. If you purchase this plant in the late fall/winter/early spring, it will not have leaves. As it starts to warm up, you can water more frequently to encourage it to start growing new leaves. 

Even during spring/summer/early fall, this plant may still drop leaves in transit. This is normal and expected. When plants are put in a stressful situation, which includes being bare rooted and put in a dark box for a few days, it is going to conserve as much energy as it can. It does this by dropping its leaves. Once it arrives, please pot it up, give it a good drink, and keep it in a shady area for about a week while it starts to recover. You should see new leaf growth within 1-2 weeks. Large plants may require additional shipping charges. Shopify does not have a way for us to assign a certain sized box to certain products. Instead it works off of a "default" box. Our default is an average of our commonly used box sizes and may not calculate accurate rates for larger plants. Please be advised that if shipping will cost us considerably more than you paid, we will send you an invoice and will not ship your plant until the additional cost is paid. We don't mind a few dollars here and there, but previously we have covered shipping costs well over $100 when $20-30 was paid by the customer. Please reach out with any questions.

Additionally, trees may be pruned heavily at our discretion before shipping to help us reduce shipping rates.

We ship all orders Mon-Wed excluding federal holidays. If temperatures near you are below 45℉ we highly recommend adding a heat pack to your order. If temperatures will be much lower than 20℉ please leave us a note with your order asking us to hold your order until a given date as heat packs will fail at temps much lower than 20℉.
