Dwarf Fakahatchee Grass - Threatened Florida Native Grass!
Dwarf Fakahatchee is a large growing, lush bunch-grass. First photo is the lovely flowers (yes, grass flowers!) Larval host for Byssus Skipper. Highly salt tolerant! 3 feet tall by 3 feet wide. Full sun to part shade. Highly drought tolerant. Birds eat the seeds.
Native grasses are SO important in the landscape. They serve as anchors for the soil, their roots are hosts for beneficial fungi, and are far more aesthetic than turf or sodgrass.
