Pumpkins, in the traditional sense, are nearly impossible to grow in Florida. It's too hot, the soil is too lousy - it's just not going to happen. Unless you grow the Seminole pumpkin. This is a squash that can deal with the heat, the sand, and the humidity. Cultivated by Indigenous People of Florida, over many generations, this vigorous vine produces sweet fleshed gourds that are reminiscent of acorn or butternut squash. Very thick skin which helps protect them from the elements and gives them a long shelf life. Vines are vigorous, give them something to climb or have an area for them to spread out. The flowers are edible, too! Usually best to have two plants for cross pollination for maximum fruit set. 4" pots, seedlings, ready for planting. Because it is a cultivar of a non-native, it is not officially a native species. It is, however, Florida Friendly and non-invasive. Shipped in careful wrapping.
